Video Production with Little Kids

You don’t need a fancy camera or expensive studio to create fantastic video projects with students of any age. You can do it with the devices and equipment you haul back and forth to school with you every day.

Mac, PC, iOS 6, and Android-using participants will learn how a great production depends more on creativity and planning than platform. We will learn tips and techniques with a number apps and applications on a variety of devices while we let our innovation shine.

Participants will explore the many practical applications where video production can make a big difference in a classroom with any aged student. Digital story problem making, digital story telling, cinematic narratives, and finding ways for kids to flip their own classrooms will all be explained in detail with participants creating their own while using what they brought with them to the session.

It’s not rocket science and doesn’t take a lot of spiffy gear. It’s also a lot more fun.

Beyond the Bubble: Showcasing Student Learning with iPads

Tired of bubble sheets? Some of the best apps for education create imaginative opportunities for students to showcase their learning. Furthermore, the Common Core State Standards make a compelling case for providing students with opportunities to explore new digital media. Break away from bubble sheets and discover apps that allow students to stretch their imaginations and allow you to assess their learning. We’ll dive into formative and summative assessment ideas that are easy to implement and designed to assess all levels of understanding. Plenty of hands-on instruction, examples from the real world,  practical strategies and just a little pedagogy for implementation will provide you with tools you need to start using iPads to assess student learning right away. This upbeat session will be the perfect companion to “The iPad Primer” or a perfect standalone for anyone who wants to integrate iPads into classroom instruction and assessment.
