SIGPL- Professional Learning Action Research Award Guidelines The Action Research Award was created to encourage classroom teachers to document the efficacy of educational technology. It was created as away to validate the cost of technology, support research goals to identify the effectiveness of technology integration on student learning, and encourage professional development needed for teacher technology fluency.
Who may apply? PreK-20 classroom teachers, instructional support staff, teacher education faculty, and teacher education graduate students are eligible for the award. Non-member winner(s) must join MACUL prior to the award presentation.
What is the award? Through the Action Research Award, the Michigan Association of Computer Users in Learning’s (MACUL) Professional Learning Special Interest Group will award each year $500.00, to (at least) one applicant who demonstrates a commitment to classroom research in the area of educational technology.
What is the submission deadline? Award submissions must be received by midnight on December 15, 2010. An award winner will be determined the winner will be contacted by February 1, 2011.
When will the award be presented? An award will be presented at the March 2011 Conference during the SIGPL Annual Meeting.

What are the responsibilities of the award winner to MACUL and SIGPL? The award winner must present at the Spring Conference and attend the SIGPL annual meeting. Optionally, the award winner may also publish the study in the
MACUL Journal.
