The Special Interest Group for Online Learning (SIGOL) provides a forum for online learning, blended learning, mobile learning devices, web 2.0 tools, course management systems and other instructional tools and strategies for teaching and learning online. Are you new to "Moodling?" Moodle is a free online course management system that allows users to interact with course materials, instructors, and other course participants. From discussion forums to quizzes, and assignments to wikis, Moodle has it all.
This session is for beginning Moodlers who want to start their own course from scratch. We will complete an overview of Moodle and course design as well as a few of the most commonly used Moodle tools. in this hands-on session you will get started on creating a basic course in which you can enroll students immediately. Moodle on! NOTE: Beginning Moodlers must have their own Moodle course in which they are the instructor to participate in this workshop.

If you have used Moodle with your students but are ready to move on to more advanced implementation, this session is for you! Come in and learn new ways to use Moodle elements to meet the multiple learning needs of your students, whether in a blended or fully online course.
This session will include hands on creation of forums, assignments, quizzes, even glossaries, all of which are effective in guiding learners to meet your teaching goals. NOTE: Intermediate and beyond Moodlers must have their own Moodle course in which they have been teaching to participate in the workshop.

Have you ever thought of doing screencasting on your iPad 2? Using apps such as VoiceThread, Explain Everything, ScreenChomp, and ShowMe, participants will create one or more screencasts or tutorials. Prepare to have a ton of fun learning together, but at your own comfortable pace, and creating the tutorial of your choice.
NOTE: Participants will need to bring their own iPad 2, content, materials or props, and ideas for their screencast. Bring a headset with mic if possible to capture your voice instead of the voice of 20 others in the room.
*Scholarships are available to one worthy participant at each of the afternoon SIGOL sessions. To be considered for the scholarship, please complete a quick survey by February 10, 2012. You must be registered in order to apply.
